Cycle NC “Mountains to Coast” Tour to Showcase Davidson County

Mountain bikes in a competition, healthy lifestyle active athlete

The 25th annual Cycle North Carolina “Mountains to Coast” Tour is set to pedal through Davidson County this October, bringing nearly 950 cyclists from 42 states and beyond. The week-long event, running from October 6-12, will start in Spruce Pine and end at Ocean Isle Beach, covering an average of 62 miles per day. Lexington and Thomasville are among the featured stops, offering a unique opportunity for local businesses and tourism.

Joe Wallace, president of the Lexington Area Chamber of Commerce and a veteran participant since 2010, highlights the tour’s appeal: “The biking community has really nice people. You meet so many people.” The event, North Carolina’s only fully supported ride, provides amenities such as luggage transport, support vehicles, and regular rest stops. It aims to promote the state’s scenic beauty, heritage, and the benefits of cycling, having visited over 800 North Carolina communities in its 24-year history.
