Recently, the Bureau of Labor Statistics released both national and state unemployment and jobs data from September. According to the national employment situation report, the national unemployment rate is at 3.5 percent which is .2 percent lower than August.
North Carolina’s September unemployment rate was 3.5 percent, which is a 0.1 percent increase from August 2022. The state unemployment rate has also dropped 0.9 percent since last year,
Additionally, based on preliminary data, the state has added about 17,000 new nonfarm jobs from August to September with some of the largest increases coming from the leisure, hospitality, business, education and health sectors.
