The Invictus Task Force was honored on September 13 at the North Carolina Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Conference, hosted by the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation. Special Agent Zac Neefe, along with officers from the Liberty Police Department and the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, received awards for their pivotal roles in Operation Child Predator. This operation, conducted in August 2023, led to the arrest of 19 child predators who traveled to Randolph County with the intent of exploiting minors. The success of this operation spurred the formation of the Invictus Task Force, a collaborative effort involving multiple county sheriff’s offices, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), and the NC State Bureau of Investigations.

In addition to law enforcement accolades, Randolph County Assistant District Attorney Walt Jones was awarded the Partnership Award for his legal work with the task force, and Whitney Miller of The Invictus Project received the Non-Governmental Organization Partnership Award for her organization’s support. The Task Force, which focuses on proactive investigations across Alamance, Davidson, and Forsyth counties, continues to safeguard children from exploitation.

Captain Justin Trogdon of the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office expressed immense pride in the team, highlighting the dedication and collaborative effort that make the Invictus Task Force a leading force in combatting internet crimes against children.
