Guilford County Schools Urge Parents to Re-register Kids for Bus Transportation

With the end of the school year fast approaching, Guilford County parents must re-register their children for bus transportation by May 31 to ensure a seat for the upcoming school year. This requirement affects students at 25 schools across the district, including Eastern High, Northeast High, and Northern Middle, among others.

The school district has reported a significant discrepancy between registered and actual bus riders, with only 29,000 of the 40,000 registered students utilizing the service. To streamline operations and ensure timely arrivals, the district mandates re-registration. Parents can complete the process online or at various in-person events scheduled throughout May. These changes aim to make the 40,000 daily miles covered by GCS buses more efficient and reduce the time some students spend on buses, which can be up to 90 minutes each way.
