Several wineries and cideries from the Piedmont Tribune’s coverage area will be among those featured when the N.C. Wine, Cider and Mead Garden returns to the N.C. State Fair, running October 15-25 in Heritage Circle near the Blacksmith Shop.
The exhibit showcases wines, hard ciders and meads from producers across the state, with offerings ranging from dry and traditional wine styles to muscadine wines and fruit-forward ciders. Nicole Chesney, executive director of the N.C. Wine and Grape Council, said Heritage Circle gives fairgoers a chance to meet the people behind the state’s beverage industry, whether they already have a favorite North Carolina producer or are sampling one for the first time.
Local producers featured this year include Childress Vineyards and Curran Alexander Vineyards, both of Lexington; Sotrio Vineyards and Carolina Heritage Vineyard, both of Elkin; Shadow Springs Vineyard of Hamptonville; Haze Gray Vineyards of Dobson; Round Peak Vineyards of Mount Airy; James Creek Cider House of Cameron; and Locklear Vineyard & Winery of Maxton.
The garden is included with general State Fair admission through the fair’s close on October 25.
