As released in the Bureau of Labor Statistics report earlier last month, North Carolina’s unemployment rate was 3.5 percent in August, up from 3.4 percent in July.

Locally, according to a Bureau of Labor Statistics report released on September 28, the Greensboro-High Point metropolitan area unemployment rate was 4.4 percent in August. This is a 1.1 percent decrease from the area’s unemployment rate in August 2021.

The data shows good signs of economic recovery as the state continues to recover from job losses caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
To help with economic recovery, the state will be giving out more than 3,900 checks to businesses across the state which is part of the second phase of the North Carolina Business Recovery Grant Program.
